Use this page when the material is plywood but the project is not specifically a 4×8 cabinet sample. The calculator above should create the layout; this module explains the assumptions to review before printing.

How this differs from a plain cut list
A written cut list tells you what parts exist. A layout calculator shows whether those rectangles can fit on actual sheet stock after kerf and rotation rules are included.

Best workflow
Start with the default layout, enter your real sheet size and kerf, generate once, then adjust part order or rotation only after you understand which pieces are difficult to place.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using nominal plywood size when the actual sheet is smaller or edge-trimmed.
- Letting finished faces rotate when grain direction matters.
- Ignoring a part that is technically placed but awkward to cut safely.
- Treating the diagram as CNC output instead of a shop planning diagram.
