StockCut FAQ

Can I optimize 4×8 plywood sheets?

Yes. Use Sheet goods mode, load the 4×8 plywood sample, then replace the sample parts with your own cabinet, shelf, panel, or acrylic parts.

Can I use StockCut for pipe, tube, bar, or lumber?

Yes. Boards / lumber and Pipe / tube / bar modes keep separate drafts and generate straight-stock cutting sequences with kerf, waste, and unplaced-cut warnings.

Which page should I open first?

Use a sheet page when parts have width and height. Use a linear page when every cut is a single length. Use a kerf page when the math appears to fit but saw width changes the finished result.

Does StockCut upload my cut list?

No. Optimization runs in your browser. Your drafts are saved locally unless you choose to export a file or copy a share link.

▣ All calculations run in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.

How this tool works

Primary StockCut workbench evidence

Combines sheet and linear cut-list planning from a local-first browser workspace with kerf, labels, stock quantities, offcuts, imports, exports, and printable results.

Calculation basis: The selected optimizer mode and live result panel are the source of truth for project-specific layouts, cut sequences, warnings, and exports.

Privacy model: Calculations run in the browser. Autosave uses localStorage, and share links encode project data in the URL hash instead of uploading project dimensions to a StockCut server.

Verify before cutting

  • Choose sheet mode for rectangular panels or linear mode for one-dimensional stock.
  • Enter actual stock, kerf, quantities, and labels before optimizing.
  • Review warnings, waste, offcuts, and unplaced items before printing or cutting.
  • Save JSON when a project needs to be moved between browsers or devices.

Boundaries

  • No cloud account system, certified manufacturing output, polygon nesting, CNC CAM, or G-code.
  • Calculations are planning estimates that must be verified in the shop.
  • The optimizer does not replace safe tool setup or physical measurement.
